Working with resource links

Linking with the WYSIWYG content editor

  1. Upload your resource that you want to make available via the Media tab in the CMS. It's best to wait until the media item is available in the Media library before linking it.
  2. In the content area that utilizes the WYSIWYG editor (pages, articles, sermons, etc.), highlight the text you want to link and click the link (chain) icon.
  3. A link window will pop up. Find for your resource in the "Link List" drop down (items are arranged by type: Article, Page, Image, Video, Docs, etc.). Select your resource and hit "Insert". The file is now linked.

Getting a specific media item URL

To get URL of a specific media item, open the media record by visiting Media > Media > [Media item]. By right-clicking on the media item's title link at the upper left, you'll be able to copy the link to the clipboard.

Download behavior for end users

Different web browsers may treat links to various file types in different ways. For instance, when clicking on a link to a PDF document, the browser may either download the document to the downloads folder, or attempt to open it in the browser itself. To take ultimate control over this behavior, you may consider using htaccess rules to force downloads.

Embedding media

If you need to make your media item useable within the web page itself, you may need to use a player or a special embed method, depending on the type of media you're working with. See the articles below for more information.
